Our years in practice have shown us that attractive smiles at any age help build self-confidence, improve self-esteem and oral health, and are life changing. Consequently, we want to take advantage of the very best time to shape our patients' smiles. We have always recommended early diagnosis for orthodontic problems. This typically has meant 7 years of age for a first visit. At that age we can intercept problems that interfere with dental and facial development. We can also recommend a developmental supervision program until dental and skeletal growth permit one comprehensive phase of orthodontic treatment.

When patients are treated at their "best time" by using current biologically sensitive orthodontic systems such as the Damon system there are fewer reasons to extract teeth, use headgears, or rapid palatal expanders. Due to the Damon System's passive self-ligating features combined with hi-tech wires, tooth moving pressures and friction are reduced. The result is shorter treatment times, fewer office visits, enhanced comfort, improved oral hygiene, and a beautiful life changing smile…sooner.

We use the following systems for comprehensive orthodontic care:

Your comprehensive orthodontic care in our office involves individualized treatment plans, the most current biologically compatible techniques and materials, and personalized doctor involvement. Because the protection of our patients is our primary concern, we are committed to providing a safe, clean, sterile environment. All orthodontic instruments and handpieces are sterilized after each use in rapid, dry heat sterilizers. In addition, we wear gloves, masks, and protective eye wear, and offer our patients protective eye wear as well. We use special disposal methods for all wires and potentially contaminated items. If you have any questions about our sterilization procedures, our staff will be happy to discuss your concerns.

Broken or disturbed orthodontic appliances are not an uncommon occurrence. If you experience any concern, such as a loose bracket or appliance, broken or poking wire, or irritation that interferes with cooperation and comfort, please call our office as soon as possible so we can evaluate the urgency of your problem. We always have a doctor on call for any after hours' orthodontic emergency. Our answering system will direct you to him.

YOUR FIRST VISIT AND MORE

When you arrive for your first visit, your personal treatment coordinator will lead you on an office tour. We will take several special radiographs and digital photographs before you meet Dr. Ed or Dr. Rob. Following a comprehensive examination, the doctor will discuss his findings and offer possible solutions. He will explain the "best time" to begin orthodontic treatment and the length of this treatment. Your treatment coordinator will then use sample appliances and computer images to explain treatment options and answer your questions. During your visit, you will receive a personalized summary of our findings and a fee estimate. Your dentist will also receive a copy of our findings and proposed care. Should orthodontic treatment be indicated, we will complete the taking of diagnostic records so you avoid an extra office visit.

Many of our young patients are excited about their first visit because they have seen a friend's braces or appliance. Others may feel some hesitation at the prospect of orthodontic treatment. To help alleviate the fears some children experience, we have designed our offices with both children and adults in mind. Family-oriented DVD's, video games, a Wurlitzer juke box, contests to win the latest electronic gear, and a "Braces Bucks" cooperation and rewards program are a few of the extras to help children feel more at home before their office visits. Adults enjoy multiple reading and work areas to keep on top of their activities or the news while enjoying some freshly-brewed specialty coffee or a chilled bottle of spring water.

Our "open" office helps promote easy interaction and rapport between staff, doctors, patients, and parents. In fact, parents are encouraged to be close at hand during any office procedure, including the "first visit." Always expect one of our staff or a doctor to tell you about each treatment visit, to provide periodic progress reports, and to help you with your questions.

YOUR NEW SMILE IS AFFORDABLE

After your initial call to our office, we will determine if you have orthodontic insurance coverage and the benefit amount. Should you have an insurance benefit, we will apply that amount to your treatment fee and set up a budget for the portion of the cost not covered by insurance.

Orthodontic fees are more affordable than ever before and we believe that cost should not be a barrier to seeking treatment. Flexible payment plans are available and payments may be extended over the course of treatment without interest. We accept major credit cards and offer a discount from the total fee if your account is paid in full at the beginning of treatment. We also arrange for automatic drafting for checking accounts and credit cards and offer Care Credit.
